Gingerbread Beginning Sounds Write the Room
This gingerbread beginning sounds write the room activity is going to add fun and movement to your literacy centers this Christmas.
It gives kids a chance to get up and move around the room while learning the alphabet, letter sounds, and letter formation.
It is jam-packed with learning opportunities!
Differentiated Gingerbread Alphabet Activity
Work on the first half of the alphabet or the second depending on which letters and sounds each group of students needs to work on.
You could even cut the recording sheets in half for students who would benefit by having less letters to work on at once.
The recording sheets are also differentiated for you. There is a version with a tracing guide for each letter.
This is helpful to students who need more support with deciphering which letter is being represented on the gingerbread house cards.
I also chose to put the letter on the cards because I think most students can benefit from having a little more support at this time in the year.
Students who are able to determine the beginning sound and letter represented on the gingerbread cards will still benefit from the extra practice and reinforcement offered with this activity.
If you really don’t like the letters being on the gingerbread cards, you could also cover them with a sticker or something like that.
Low-Prep Gingerbread Literacy Activity
This gingerbread theme write the room activity is super simple to prep too!

Using this Gingerbread Write the Room Activity
Students will grab a clipboard and walk around the room looking for gingerbread cards.
When they come to a gingerbread card, they will use the the picture on the gingerbread house to identify the letter represented.
As mentioned above, the letter is also shown at the top left of the card for extra support.
Once they determine the letter represented, they will look for the picture on on their recording sheet.
Once they find that picture, they will write the letter in the space provided. There is room to write each letter more than once. This gives you the option to decide how many times you want them to write them.
Students will continue until they fill in all the spaces on the recording sheet.
