Spider Web Count and Match Counting Activity Printable
These new spider web count and match mats will make learning to count an engaging, hands-on experience. Add them to your math centers this fall.

Spider Web Count and Match
Our count and cover mats are such a hit that I thought it would be fun to make another type of count and cover mat.
On this new type of counting mat, students count objects on the mat and then cover the space with a matching number tile or number magnet.
In this case, students will count the number of spiders on a web.
If you looking for a hands-on, differentiated way for your students to learn counting, number recognition and number sense, then these spider web count and match mats are perfect for you!
They require no-prep other than printing and slipping into write and wipe pockets or laminating. There is no cutting involved. Plus, they come in color AND black and white options.
This makes it perfect for your spider theme or creepy crawly activities.
Setting Up the Spider Counting Mats
Adult supervision is required for all activities I share. Please use discretion when doing the activities with children and only do activities that you feel are safe for your kids. Children under 3 should not participate in any activities that involve small pieces.

- The count and match mats (button to download is at the bottom of this post)
- Write and wipe pockets or laminator
Simply print the mats and slip them into a write and wipe pockets. You can also laminate them instead.
There are three kinds of mats. One has numbers 1-5 repeated twice, the second has numbers 1-10, and the third has numbers 11-20.
This gives you a chance to differentiate a bit and meet students where they are.
Using this Spider Counting Activity
Students will look at a space on the mat and count how many spiders are on the web.
After they are done counting, they will find a corresponding number tile and cover that space with it.
If they are using the mats for numbers 11-20, they will need two number tiles to make the number.
This will continue until all of the spaces on the mat have been covered.
You can also practice even more counting by using spider manipulatives and counting them out on the mats.
I hope this simple spider activity will be a great addition to your math centers or morning tubs!
